NEWsletter: 'Mom-So-Hard' Moments
III. Event Announcements: Not your average book club & taming the monkey mind. Sound enticing?
Hello Readers, Friends & Other Humans Networking,
With my girls back in school, I’m working in full force again.
I took these last months, and in part-time working capacity, keeping busy with domesticated tasks had me working from home…like with animals as a petsitter.
It doesn’t pay the bills, but it was on my list of Barbie Dream Jobs. Have you seen the movie yet? We enjoyed it!
Petsitting, and some babysitting gigs, also helped the girls earn an allowance this past year. These side hustles, which I usually don’t advocate for such a culture, have actually injected a strong dose of routine & discipline into supporting daily habits in our home. The girls learned the basics of having to work for money, while also getting our furbaby cuddles in.
I underestimated how much effort it takes to interact with people in a social capacity. I largely benefited from, and enjoyed my solitude during the pandemic. It was what “the doctors” ordered for burn-out recovery, and it worked in my favour. This season has been kind to build confidence with a target audience I know best: the four-leggeds. Too bad they don’t have prehensile appendages required to make bank transfers.
These last three years, I found a perfect opportunity to heal from deep within while tapping into intuitive spaces that provided groundwork in creating goals towards my future.
I stopped abusive patterns and behaviours from my past, while reforming a social circle and transforming my life. I built a new business and career for myself. And I found (some) peace, plus an abundance of happiness.
Emerging from this period of divorce, career change, unemployment, sabbatical, death & rebirth (…and did I mention the heaps of therapy…?), I am satisfied I gave the time to play the role of Stay-at-Home Mom Barbie. Focusing only on my kids and myself living in our safe bubble of reality.
It’s been the hardest job I’ve ever done, but also the most rewarding. If I die tomorrow, I’ll die happy knowing my children have secured solid lessons in emotional maturity from having this phase of life behind them.
“Cool, Audra. Good for you. What’s next?”
…yeah, thanks for asking… currently working on promoting these items:
Mindful Moment (learn more here):
🧘🏼 Join for a 3-session mindfulness series - 12, 19, 26 September 830-930 CEST - Live in Delft, or online via Zoom (register here)
These sessions are for beginners, or those looking to add depth by activating the senses in their existing breath-work and meditation practice. We will focus on a few basic movements, allowing the body to rest. Visuals will be offered enabling the mind to clear while we manage to sit still for a few minutes.
“But I’m at work then, or dropping my kids off…”
For those wanting to join remotely, it’s possible to be flexible. Contact me on +31610968621 (NOTE NEW NUMBER!) to discuss. A yoga mat is not required, but a sturdy chair or firm cushion to sit upon is needed. Looking forward to seeing you soon!
“Okay, got it. What else u cookin’ up?”
Well, at the moment I’m busying growing my brand and skills as a writer. A career that also is on the ol’bucket list. So am launching this stuff for now…
Writer’s World Women’s Circle (register here):
On this Sunday 10 September, 2000 -2100 CEST, I’m hosting a webinar with a high school friend from my hometown in Missouri. For those that know me from telling stories of “back where I come from”, you may find this networking opportunity interesting.
Kadesha P, a former teacher turned writer, now a thriving book coach, will be my guest for this month’s kick-off call.
Kadesha is one of the few black people Joplin, Missouri had back in the ‘80s. Yes, you read that sentence correctly. She wrote a book about what that was like, while offering motivating topics sharing her experiences as an author.
Kadesha has helped me tremendously over these last years and I’m happy to help promote her art. Maybe this sounds interesting to others? Anyhoo, feel free to join this bookclub in the making, where reading the recommended book is not an actual requirement.
Oh hey, before I go…
